Kristine Handley began studying the saxophone at age 10 and from then her passion for music grew steadily. Inspired to pursue a career in music, Kristine undertook a Bachelor of Music at the University of Queensland, which she completed in 2013. She continues to grow her skill and love for the saxophone through postgraduate study at the Queensland Conservatorium under the expert guidance of Diana Tolmie. Being a member of the Queensland Conservatorium Saxophone Orchestra has allowed Kristine to experience a number of different performance opportunities from concert hall to jazz club and has heightened her appreciation for many different genres of music. This year she has also been privileged to be able to begin arranging pieces for the Saxophone Orchestra. Outside of university, Kristine explores her interest in chamber music through her newly formed saxophone quartet Volaré and has discovered a love for teaching through private instrumental lessons. She is very much looking forward to completing her studies this year and for the exciting opportunities ahead.
