Jodie O’Brien has always loved music and first started learning the piano at age seven. This passion continued to grow through learning both the saxophone and clarinet plus engagement with many school and community ensembles. Jodie was a member of the Young Conservatorium and won a scholarship to participate in the Pacific Honours Ensembles Program in Seattle. Her desire to continue to learn music led to Jodie’s successful audition into the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, studying a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Saxophone. At the Conservatorium, Jodie continues to participate in multiple ensembles, including the Queensland Conservatorium Saxophone Orchestra led by Diana Tolmie. Jodie is a member of the Griffith Honours College, consisting of the top 5% of Griffith University students. Enjoying learning jazz and classical music, she has found this diversity is greatly assisting her private teaching practice. In addition to this and performing, Jodie is interested in pursuing music therapy.
